Job Overview

Are you looking to be a part of the most influential company in the Animal Health space, we are the first company in the world that will use AI to support the good health of animals and contribute to revolutionising the way healthcare is delivered to our extended pet families!

We are looking for an ambitious DevOps Engineer, with commercial experience in cloud platforms (ideally GCP, but are open to AWS/Azure) to join our Scale Up Business. You will play a pivotal role in the growth of the organisation, owning delivery of projects in order to meet the needs of the business. You will be firmly hands-on, spending the majority of your time designing, creating, optimising, and maintaining complex and quickly-growing Cloud software in the emerging vet-tech sector.

We’re incredibly people (and animal) focused and have built a great inclusive culture, where there are no egos, everyone’s opinions are respected, people are given the freedom and support to do their best work.

What we offer

  • Big impact. Your work will help shape the pet care industry. We are working hard to change the status quo and help pets and pet parents across the globe access better and more affordable care.
  • Great team. You’ll work alongside very talented and dedicated people. We're all about growth, collaboration, and support.
  • Cool tech stack. We strive to use the best, most modern tools and technologies, and when they fall short of our expectations, we invent our own.
  • Own products. We don’t work for clients, we build awesome products. Everyone contributes towards achieving a great customer experience and a better product.
  • Growth. We encourage everyone to continuously grow and get out of their comfort zone. You will be supported in any initiatives that will help you or the company grow. We are working hard on developing a personal development plan.
  • Remote working. We've always been a remote team and we've matured the process over the years. Covid aside, we'll continue to work remotely for the foreseeable future.
  • Flexible schedule. Our regular hours are 9-5 GMT/BST, but this isn’t a “clock in, clock out” company. You’re fully trusted to create the right conditions for your own personal peak productivity. We only ask that you’re available to your teammates for 5-6 hours a day and attend daily catch up meetings.

Key responsibilities

  • Refine and refactor the architecture of micro-service infrastructure.
  • Design and develop middleware for micro-service improvement.
  • Improve system's security, performance, availability and scalability
  • Ensure our GCP cloud platform is highly scalable, reliable, runs efficiently
  • Maintain and administer our development environments with CI/CD tools with Kubernetes and Dockers

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience about Kubernetes. Code contributions
  • 2+ years of experience about GCP, strong experience on Cloud Native
  • development experience with Golang, Python or Scala
  • Good experience in large-scale cluster operation, maintenance and trouble shooting
  • Familiar with Kubernetes network model and disaster recovery
  • Team working, analytical mind, be optimistic, willing to accept challenges and quick response against incidents

Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging

We’re building an inclusive and diverse team. We truly believe that surrounding ourselves with different opinions means that we’ll challenge our own assumptions instead of thinking we know the correct answer. We welcome applications from everyone and will foster an encouraging and caring workplace. We know by data that people from minority backgrounds – such as black people/POC, women, neurodivergent, etc, tend to only apply for roles when they meet 90% or more of the requirements. We’re not looking for unicorns (they’re not something we’ve seen in the Veterinary clinics yet anyway!) so please, send us your CV anyway. We’ll take the time to look over your application and give you feedback.

We don’t just want to build a diverse team, we want to make it truly inclusive, where no matter what background you are from, you feel a strong sense of belonging.
